A Spotted Canary Project by Spotted Canary Creations

22 December 2011

Ginny Macdonell teaches you how to incorporate hand stitched embroidery designs onto charming super market totes you have purchased or sewn.

Instructions

STEP 1:

Insert printed fabric into embroidery hoop, pulling tightly so you have a taut stitching surface.

STEP 2:

Remove presorted cotton thread as set forth in the kit’s instructions, working one color at a time.

STEP 3:

Thread needle with appropriate number of embroidery strands.

STEP 4:

Use stitches such as back stitch, satin stitch and French knots to complete stitchery as directed.

STEP 5:

Discover the beauty of adding stitches to a pre-printed fabric piece. It adds dimension and color.

STEP 6:

Buy or make a cotton super market tote. Turn edges under and iron. Appliqué embroidered sampler onto the tote using Button Hole Stitch.

STEP 7:

Stitch other designs and incorporate them into gift bags for a special Handmade gift. Create a fabric sash to close your gift bag, which can be used over and over by the recipient.
